INTACT’s main office, Special School and Nursery School are located at K.Sathanur, Tiruchirapalli, a city situated at the centre of Tamilnadu, 325 Kilometres south of Chennai (Madras). INTACT has its activities in Tiruchirapalli, Mudikandam,Olaiyur Villages in Manigandam block, villages in Musiri and Thuraiyur blocks of Tiruchirapalli district, Maruvathur, Keelaiyur, Adaikalapuram and Poompuhar villages of Nagai district and tribal villages on Kalrayan Mountains spread in Salem, South Arcot and Villupuram districts.

Manigandam block is a dry land agricultural area with single crop per year.  Since there are no industrial activities to provide alternate employment, 70% of population depends on agriculture which results in seasonal unemployment.  This area is backward in education and health facilities. Majority of the people are Hindus by religion. The age-old Dravidian culture still reflects in their festivals, ceremonies, caste practices and civic life. The women have secondary status as is common in Indian villages. This area is placed 20 kilometres south of Tiruchirapalli.

Maruvathur is a village on the east coast of Tamilnadu and 150 kilometres east of Tiruchirapalli close to Mayiladuthurai town. INTACT has selected 15 girl children for Girl Child Fostership programme from the lowest strata of caste hierarchy (Harijans) who will form the first literate generation of women in this village.

INTACT Catastrophe Foundation is running Child Activity Centres in non-fishing villages Keelaiyur, Poompuhar in Tsunami-hit coastal areas in Sirkali Taluk, Naapattinam District which caters to the needs of 62 poor children under the age of 5.  Fifty children are supported for their school education through ICF Sponsorship programme.   

Kalrayan Mountains is a wide cluster of hills and hillocks stretched over Salem, Villupuram, Darmapuri and South Arcot Districts.Our target villages are 250 kilometres away from Chennai.  These villages are very remotely placed without any approach roads and basic amenities. Due to lack of educational institutions the literacy level is very low.
