About INTACT…

INTACT is a non-profit Public Charitable Trust incorporated on 12th August 1992.  INTACT works towards empowering of marginalised groups in the society without any discrimination.

INTACT works to achieve gender equity by empowering women through trainings and capacity building activities those lead women towards economic independence.  Skill training is imparted to rural women in Handloom weaving, Tailoring and  other handicrafts which are labour-intensive and environment-friendly.  A network is being formed with friends, similar-interest organisations and women entrepreneurs to market the products made by women to ensure the sustainability of the programme.

INTACT imparts training and life-oriented education to the mentally challenged children through INTACT Special School adopting modern and innovative techniques in special education.  INTACT reach the mentally challenged children in remote villages who are deprived of special schooling and training opportunities through Community based rehabilitation (CBR) programme.

INTACT work among hill tribes on Kalrayan Hills since 1992 providing them free medical assistance and health awareness education.  Adult literacy programme is geared up for the tribal adults in 10 villages.  Girl children from these villages are sent to school through Girl Child Fostership programme in order to empower women.

INTACT adopts ‘top-up participatory approach’ and ‘micro level networking’ as effective tools of development work.   INTACT is built and run on sound principles of self help.  In short, INTACT helps people to help themselves.
