Trading for development

INTACT believes that economic independence provides freedom and liberty for the oppressed especially women.  INTACT identifies women from scheduled (Harijans) and most backward communities and helps them to attain social status and a permanent occupation.  This is a small but sure step towards social change.

Vocations for skill training are selected with the following parameters:

Environment-friendliness

Labour-intensiveness

Sheltered working environment

Suitability  for rural women

INTACT established weaving training centres in Mudikandam and Olaiyur villages near Tiruchirapalli and so far more than 80 women were imparted training in weaving, stitching and packing. Handloom weaving training and production successfully generates opportunities for women with perpetual employments and fair returns.   In order to bring professional approach in trading and to concentrate on quality a separate export wing, Intact Designs is incorporated with 'alternate trading' concept.

Alternate trading enables us to avoid exploitative channels in marketing and to eliminate unnecessary middlemen resulting in fair returns to the producing women and fair price to the end-buyers.

INTACT  also promotes employment–oriented training schemes for rural women in:

 Stitching and tailoring

Hand embroidered greeting cards making

Silk scarves making

  Paper bags making

Trading guarantees Women

Secured employment and fair income,

To continue these employment-generation projects, a sound marketing programme is to be ensured. So far we have marketed our products in U.K., Sweden, Switzerland and Norway through friends and similar-interest organisation on alternate trading concept.
